UNCERTAINTY SOMETIMES MAKES THE MARKET TO GO ON A BEARISH TREND LIKE WE ARE SEEING NOW BASED ON THE UNCERTAINTY IN THE BANKING SECTOR, THOUGH THIS NOT WITHSTANDING, FUNDAMENTAL STOCKS ARE STILL JUICY TO BUY NOW. THE CASHCRAFT RESEARCH TEAM REPORT FOR YESTERDAY WAS
There was a run on the market today as almost all the stocks were on serious offer. The
drop cut across all the sectors and this could be attributed to the crisis cum revolution
going on in the banking industry. The last week removal of Managing Directors of five banks
by the Central Bank of Nigeria caused investors to embarked on panic sell since the scenario
presented uncertainty. The stocks of five affected stocks have been placed on suspension by
the Nigerian Stock Exchange to prevent total erosion of the said stock value.


This run is expected and may last for some time until the Central Bank of Nigeria completes her
audit and presents the true positions of all the banks. Meanwhile, the stocks of the banks that have been audited and cleared such as First bank, UBA, GTB, Diamond bank and Sterling bank may not take so long before they bounce back. A total of 6 stocks gained, 64 lost and 47 remained the same at the close of trading today making the total number of securities traded at 117. 4 stocks of the gainers advanced maximum while 45 of the losers declined maximum
The coast will be clear after the investing public must have gotten the real picture of the happenings, after they must have read, analyzed and digested the details of the exercise. Generally, the trend in the market will shake after which it will stabilize.
